Job role: Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: London (Wimbledon)

Salary: negotiable 

Working Hours and Place of Work: Full-time, London

We are currently all working remotely, but we hope to return to our office in Wimbledon as soon as we are allowed to. 

Please note that we operate a flexible place of work policy, and we will expect the successful candidate to work from the office as and when required to meet and engage with their fellow HPDers. 

Main function

Working as part of the Application Manager team, the role will involve close collaboration with the Cloud Engineering team to help build; deploy and manage our Cloud Native Asset Finance solution, designed around AWS; Kubernetes; Terraform; PostgreSQL and ReactJS.

 As the SME on DevOps and Cloud Technology practices, the ideal candidate will help influence the architectural design of the solution as well as build up a team that will ultimately run and manage the facility on behalf of our customers under a SAAS based offering.  The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong infrastructure as code provisioning skills, along with experience of automated deployment and workflow pipelines.  Experience of AWS; high security and resilience is also essential.

Key Skills required:

  • AWS certified 5 years experience, including the design of VPCs, networking, RDS, API gateways, EKS, ECS, etc.
  • Experienced with Infrastructure as Code tools with AWS, such as CloudFormation or Terraform. 
  • Exposure and understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how these feed into a micro services architecture 
  • Experience designing and working with fault tolerant, highly available, high traffic/throughput, distributed, scalable systems 
  • Strong understanding and experience of managing networking concepts, protocols and security (ie. TCP/IP, HTTP, Load-balancers, proxies, TLS etc) 
  • Detailed understanding of containerisation platforms like Kubernetes, Docker, EKS. 
  • Keen to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation and bringing industry standards to everything we do 
  • Proficient in administrating and providing support for both Windows and Linux platforms. 
  • Proficient in in at least one scripting language such as Power Shell, Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and CICD tool-chains.
  • Experience of additional public cloud platforms such as Azure; Google cloud would be beneficial as our long term aim is to port the solution across multiple platforms.
