Our history of time

We might have been around since 1972, but really - we're only just getting started.

1972
The year it all happened

HPD was born when founders Hill, Price and Davison incorporated a joint company in London. 

The company originally provided general IT services.

 

1983
Releasing our first software

Making a factoring system for Bank of Boston was a great learning experience. 

Two years later, in 1985, we released iFactor, our first packaged solution for the receivables finance market. Bank of Ireland and Royal Bank of Scotland started to use it in the same year.

1999
Winning the Queens Award for Enterprise

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious award for UK businesses. It’s designed to recognise and encourage outstanding achievements. 

In recognition of our outstanding overseas growth we won in the Export Achievement category.


2002
Expanding overseas and at home

We moved into new territories in 2002 when the first regional office was opened in Sydney, Australia.

New modern offices were opened in 2010 in Putney, Southwest London, to serve clients locally.

2005
Launching Aquarius, our new software product

By collaborating with our major clients, we presented the next generation of invoice discounting, factoring and asset based lending software to the market. The new product, Aquarius, superseded iFactor.

2008
Automating invoice finance with a new tool

We created and launched Gemini, a tool that digitally connects the borrower with the finance provider. 

The tool that helps to automate invoice finance proved to be a significant technology change for the industry.

2015
Our workforce exceeding 100 employees

In 2015, HPD acquired CASE in the USA which created an international workforce of over 100 employees. 

Today we have 150 colleagues in the UK, Australia and the United States.

2017
Listed in the FT 1000

By being one of Europe's fastest growing businesses we achieved a place in the FT 1000 companies. The FT 1000 is a league compiled by the Financial Times and Statista based on percentage growth over a three-year period.

2017
Focussing on Corporate Social Responsibility

After becoming a CSR registered employer, we’re devoted to developing new CSR initiatives every year to look after our staff and our environment.

2018
Rebranding and launching a new platform

Our software platform HPD was rebranded to showcase our integrated product suite for the global commercial finance sector. It all coincided with the launch of our brand new website (www.hpdlendscape.com).

2018
Becoming a London Living Wage Employer

We pay the real Living Wage because we believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. 

As an accredited Living Wage Employer, no member of our staff is earning less than the real Living Wage, which is higher than the National Living Wage. This commitment also applies to our third party contracted staff. 

 

2018
Winning the Queen's Award again

We were awarded the 2018 Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in recognition of the company's outstanding overseas growth. This is the second time we won the award. 

2020
Embracing a new way of working

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re working from the safety of our homes. 

Thanks to our internal IT technologies and communication channels it didn’t take a lot of rejigging!

2020
Moving into new headquarters

In November 2020, we'll be moving into our exciting new offices in southwest London.

We invest in the next generation of talent

In 2017, we introduced an apprenticeship and graduate programme. Since then we’ve welcomed more than 20 new talents to most of our departments across our company.

Most of our graduates and apprentices have since become permanent members of staff working in marketing, IT, software development, testing and more.


Our technology

Our industry leading solutions are developed using Java and JavaScript software on mainstream technology frameworks like React and Spring Boot.  Our software development life cycle and collaboration processes are built around the Atlassian tool set while supporting a range of deployment models from on-premise through to cloud-based Saas, software-as-a-service.

We are committed to continuous improvement, investing approximately 15% of our annual turnover in research and development. With increasing demand for cloud-based digital solutions, our latest investments see us researching the latest technologies while paying back our technical debt.
